EXCON 10th edition commences in Bengaluru

Union Minister for Road, Transport & Highways and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MEME) Nitin Gadkari addresses the opening

The 10th edition of South Asia’s largest construction equipment and construction technology trade fair, EXCON 2019 organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) began in Bengaluru with several Sri Lankan companies participating at the event.

The five-day trade fair was inaugurated by Union Minister for Road, Transport and Highways and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MEME) Nitin Gadkari and Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa.

“In order to give a boost to the infrastructure sector the Government of India had announced its intention to invest Indian Rs. one billion in infrastructure over the next few years. The Government of India has also proposed expanding 1,25,000 km of rural roads,” said Minister Nitin Gadkari at the EXCON opening.

The 10th edition is held under the theme, Smart I-tech – Next Gen India@75 and provides a platform for the display of technological advancements, innovations and latest developments in the construction equipment sector.

As part of the 10th year celebrations, (CII) has organized special activities like exclusive pavilions on AI, IoT, Robotics, Start-ups and components among others.

Over 1250 exhibitors including 350 plus overseas companies from 25 countries including China, Germany, Italy, South Korea, Turkey, UK and USA is participating at this five-day exhibition which has attracted over 70,000 business visitors from India and abroad.

Excon 2019 endeavours to build India’s infrastructure in an ecologically sustainable manner, enabling projects on smart cities, supporting Swachh Bharat programs, promoting skill development and position “Make In India” – as the national agenda for achieving holistic growth in the infrastructure and related sectors.
