‘Biz community renders invaluable service to develop country’s economy’

Sri Lankan business community has provided an invaluable service to develop the country’s economy to a greater extent South African High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Robina Patricia Marks said.

Robina Marks made these observations at the 16th edition of “National Business Excellence Awards 2029 ceremony in Colombo Hilton conducted by the National Chamber of Commerce and graced by Sri Lanka’s top Business leaders, leading business organizations and the members of top diplomatic missions participated. She said that that these awards are recognition of the leadership in governance and sustainability of local business and this annual award ceremony reflects the importance of a vibrant private sector for Sri Lanka’s growth.

She also commended the National Chamber of Commerce for playing a major role in supporting the country’s business enterprises to achieve excellence. NCC, President Asela de Livera said to succeed in business today the business community needs to be flexible and have good planning and organizational skills. De Livera reminded that each day is an open opportunity for mastering skills and achieving goals by working hard. “Success often comes by having the right attitude and making right decisions at the right time,” he said. The NCC President said that these events will help to recognize and promote the brand image of their companies. He also said that bilateral relations between Sri Lankan and South Africa are maintaining with the mutual understanding and is moving upwards.

The overall Gold Medal winner was Kelani Valley Plantations PLC while the overall Silver Medal and the Bronze medals were won by Sri Lanka Catering Ltd and JAT Holding (pvt) Ltd respectively.
