The world would lose of 80% of current job tiles in a decade, said Head Board Member, University of Vocational Technology, Dr. Ruwan Abeysekera.
Speaking at the launch of the STEP Campus, he said that job titles such as engineers, teachers, doctors and lawyers would disappear and new job titles such as organ creator, wild life experience designer and garbage artist would emerge.
The Sigma Tertiary Education Pathway (Pvt.) Limited, known as STEP Campus (at Maya Avenue Colombo 6), affiliated to the Higher Education Institute of Sigma Institute, was officially launched last Friday.
The STEP Campus was established to provide a new style of university education with innovative techniques to meet the demands of the rapidly changing world, said its Chairman, Sigma Tertiary Education Pathway (Pvt.) Limited (STEP Campus), Sigma Institute, Kirulapana and Shilpa Institute, Horana, Kanthi Kulasiri.
“STEP Campus intends developing broad and strong ties with similar institutions and professionals and organizations worldwide, with a view to enhancing the quality of programs and also to facilitate foreign students,” said CEO/ MD Sandun Kulasiri.
“STEP had already engaged with a few colleges and professionals in the Maldives who have shown great interest in the concept and expressed willingness to develop the market for STEP Campus in the Maldives.”
The Sigma Institute was founded by late Jagath Kulasiri in 2001, to train students for the GCE O/L and A/L examinations. In its 20th year, Sigma is the largest Secondary Education service provider in Sri Lanka, by student population and more than one million students have studied at the Sigma Institute.
The institute has progressed to one of the largest and the most successful private educational institutions in Sri Lanka.

The institute also has affiliations and partnerships with many other institutes, including City & Guilds, the national accreditation and awarding body in Scotland.
“Further, we have received the approval to conduct courses in Level 4 IVQ Diploma in Digital Marketing and Teacher training. This is the first time in Sri Lanka, that Digital Marketing is been offered exclusively through STEP Campus.”
