Malaysia’s success with shoe-box housing

Shawn Mark from Malaysia’s Impetus Alliance said that Malaysian government picked 400 acres, (7 km off the city) and allowed apartments to be built in this space in 1993 and today there are70 high rise apartment complexes in this site named Mont City, housing over 40 different ethnic communities including over 5,000 new roads and speed trains too were linked to this city.

During the Asian economic crisis ‘Shoe box housing’ (small high riser low cost apartments) were introduced and this too was a major success.
