The CHFMA (Certified Hospitality Finance and Management Accountant 5th Intake was Inaugurated at SLITHM (Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management) on July 7.
CHFMA is the premier & the only professional qualification in the hospitality industry in Sri Lanka which is offered by CMA Sri Lanka the National Professional Management Accounting Body in Sri Lanka jointly with SLITHMthe Government Training Institute for the Hospitality, Travel and Tourism Industry coming under the Ministry of Tourism Development.
Prof. Lakshman R. Watawala, the President of Certified Management Accountants of CMA Sri Lanka was the Chief guest at the inauguration ceremony while Rajitha Fernando, the Group Cost Controller of Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts and Ms. Madumi Ginigaddarage, Director Examinations of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (CMA) addressed the gathering at this event.
Prof. Watawala addressing the gathering emphasizedthe need for professionals in the finance and cost and management accounting fields with adequate knowledge and skills for the Hospitality & Tourism industry to cater to the growing demandboth locally and globally.
He also stated that while conducting classes with experienced lecturers coming from the hotel industry this course was practical oriented and would enable the hotel industry to control costs and improve its profitability.
This batch consisting of atotal of 75 candidates showed the great demand for the programme.
