
The Sri Lankan chapter of internationally reputed American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) recently held its AGM at Regent Country Club, Battaramulla.
Prashantha Hewapathirana was elected as the new president of the Sri Lankan Chapter 171of ASHRAE. Other office bearers elected were Sandamalie Perera, (President next year), Hulet Jayaweera (Vice President), Nuwan Rodrigo (Secretary), M.K.Weerasinghe (Treasurer), Anthony Hemakumara, Dayani Gunawardane and Rangika Amarasuriya (Directors). New committee presidents elected were as follows; Sandamalie Perera (Chapter Regional Conference Committee), Darshana Deshapriya (Student’s Activity Committee), Danesh Subhasinghe (Membership Promotion committee), Noushad Kalidean (Research Promotion Committee), Dakshitha Karunarathne (Chapter Technology Transfer Committee), Vijitha Perera (Grassroots Government Activities), Pandukabhaya Amarasinghe (History Committee), Dayani Gunawardane (Electronic Communication Committee), Chandana Dalugoda (Refridgerator Committee), Lasantha Seneviratne (Attendance & Reception Committee), Manjula Nawaratne (Publicity Committee), Piyasiri Kalubowila (Honours & Awards Committee), Randika Amarasuriya (Publications & News Letter Committee ), Anthony Hemakumara (Special Events Committee), Wimala Goonaratne (Audit & Finance Committee), Sachith De Silva (Young Engineers’ Committee), Pandu Amarasinghe (Nominations Committee) and Dayani Gunawardane (Women’s Committee).
Entering in to international conventions on standards and quality of heating, refrigerating and air-conditioning is the vision and mission of this organization.
Sri Lankan chapter of ASHRAE is working towards complying with technically accepted standard methodology in purchasing products and building up a collective solidarity upon consensus in the entire industry.
Encouraging environment friendly sustainable productions and making awareness about the technology of such products among engineers and workers in related fields and planning activities for the coming year were in the agenda of the AGM.
Also it was discussed about ways to continue the existing methodologies.
