Deputy Economic Affairs Minister Harsha de Silva with Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to the USA, Prasad Kariyawasam and Sri Lanka Coordinator in USA, Nilan Fernando met with top officials of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) to discuss several issues pertaining to the fund. They spoke with MCC’s Fatema Sumar and Caroline Nguyen at length on the disbursement of a grant running into several hundred million dollars from USA’s Millennium Challenge Corporation. “This is currently on hold and we talked as to how this could be activated,” Dr. Harsha said. “This will be a grant to the Sri Lankan people by the American people and it will be the biggest grant ever by any country.” Here Deputy Minister Dr. Harsha de Silva with MCC officials in USA
