Sri Lanka will send business delegation and a trade mission to Tajikistan before President Maithripala Sirisena visit the country late next year.This team would be led by Development Strategies and International Minister Trade Malik Samarawickreme.
The delegation from Sri Lanka will include the business community engaged in gems and jewellery apparel, rubber-based products, porcelain and tableware.
Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Harsha de Silva told an investment forum yesterday at Cinnamon Lakeside that there are also tremendous investment opportunities in Tajikistan’s free trade zone for Lankan investors.
Deputy Minister also said that local companies have opportunities for investment in tier hydropower and apparel sectors.A Tajikistan business delegation led by visiting Tajikistan President Emomali Rahman also attended this forum.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan. (SS)
