The only state-owned enterprise to open a stall in the Colombo Shopping Festival now held in BMICH this year, Chilaw Plantation Company has caught the eyes of the scores of visitors to the venue. The festival will end on Saturday.
This initiative has been taken parallel with State Enterprise Development Minister Kabir Hashim’s endeavour to make state institutions production process more efficient and evolve them to be more competitive with the private sector.
Chilaw Plantation Company Chairman Asiri Herath has been instrumental in setting up the stall in the BMICH. In the stall products of Chilaw Plantation Company such as coconuts, coconut oil and other products manufactured from coconut trees could be purchased at a very reasonable price.
Chairman Herath said that measures were in place to open a stall of Chilaw Plantation Company at Jayewardene Centre Colombo 7 for the convenience of the public in Colombo.
