Sampath Bank was feted as the winner in the Banking Sector category at the National Business Excellence Awards (NBEA) 2016 organized by the National Chamber of Commerce. The event was held on November 30, 2016 at the Colombo Hilton Grand Ballroom.
The National Business Excellence Awards is an annual award competition that recognises business enterprises, which demonstrates excellence in Corporate Governance, Capacity Building, Performance Management, Global and Local Market Reach, Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Sustainability, Business and Financial Results in business.
Based on the contribution made to the economic progress, environmental sustainability and a high level of corporate governance practices, Sampath Bank was also awarded with the runner-up award for Excellence in Corporate Governance while also bagging two Merit Awards for Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility and Excellence in Performance Management respectively.

In recognition of Sampath Bank’s outstanding performance in the year 2016, the Bank was also honoured with multiple awards such as ‘Best Bank in Sri Lanka – 2016’ by the prestigious Business Magazine ‘The Euromoney’, Best Innovation in Retail Banking Sri Lanka 2016 and Best Commercial Bank of the Year Sri Lanka 2016 by the International Banker Magazine, among many other accomplishments.
