January-July tea production gains 30.84 M/kgs

Sri Lanka tea production for the month of July 2021 showed a marginal decrease totaling 26.16 M/kgs, of 0.31 M/kgs vis-à-vis 26.47 M/kgs of July 2020.

High and Low elevations have shown a decline, whilst the Medium Growns recorded a marginal gain over the corresponding month of 2020.

January-July 2021 cumulative production totalled 187.78 M/kgs, recording a gain of 30.84 M/kgs vis-à-vis 156.94 M/kgs of January-July 2020. On a cumulative basis, all elevations have shown substantial gains, with the Low Growns in particular gaining 22% over the corresponding period of 2020.

Cumulative production of CTC teas (January-July 2021) totalled 16.18 M/kgs, recording a 2.24 M/kgs increase vis-à-vis 13.94 M/kgs of January-July 2020. Here again, all elevations have shown a significant gain YoY when compared to the corresponding period of 2020.
