For the first time in Sri Lanka, the Royal Institute of Colombo (RIC) Kohuwala, Nugegoda brings the Blended Learning initiative in collaboration with the Deakin University.
This initiative has been specifically introduced for the students who have faced a major setback in starting their international degree programme in Australia due to the COVID-19 restrictions.
“Families, on the other hand, who rely on the support and guidance of the university have faced a significantly complicated situation regarding the future of their children. The emergence of blended learning has thus become the new dynamics and need of the hour in the education sector today. Hence, students will now be able to complete the entire degree in Sri Lanka at their comfort of being closer to home,” an official from RIC said.
“The cost savings that come along with the university’s new Blended Learning initiative is financial relief for the students and families. The RIC-Deakin partnership exclusively offers a flat 50% scholarship on the tuition fees for students who choose to complete their entire degree programme from Sri Lanka itself.”
“Moreover, in terms of cost-saving, a RIC student can save up to 60% of the expenses for the Engineering pathway programme and up to 40% of the expenses for the Science pathway programme as compared to starting at Deakin directly.”
Amidst the mounting financial pressure during this difficult time, RIC is continuously seeking ways to address this concern with compassion towards students and families.
“The courses and units delivered through the Deakin Cloud Campus are taught by the same academic staff as at other campuses in Australia. Classes are recorded and posted on Cloud Deakin (Deakin’s dedicated online platform) and students will be engaged in active learning activities in real-time with other students and staff using innovative digital tools.”
Moreover, RIC will be further supporting students with the learning infrastructure along with practical, tutorials and local lecturer’s expertise.
Since the formation of an abiding partnership in 2012, RIC and Deakin University have incredibly uplifted the aspirations of Sri Lankan students intending to pursue an international degree. The collaboration has offered students the choice to pursue their bachelor’s degree in the fields of Science, Engineering, and Environmental Science.
