Allianz Insurance Lanka Limited (Allianz Lanka), one of the fastest-growing insurance service providers in Sri Lanka, recently carried out a solar installation project at a rural school in Warawewa, uplifting the facilities for education and overall quality of life of the students in the community.
This is the company’s first sustainability initiative for 2021 and is in line with the group’s Climate Change and Decarbonization Strategy of encouraging solutions for tomorrow’s climate.
Following a stringent selection process, the Market Management team picked NW/ Maho/Giribawa Hettiearachchigama Primary School in Warawewa as the school with the greatest need for this solar installation. The school now has a solar panel with a capacity of 3kWh (a 7 solar panel unit) which provides its complete electricity requirements. In addition to this, some essential equipment and stationery were donated to the school and students. Close to 50 children from farmer families between the grades of 1-5 and five teachers will benefit from this benevolent gesture by Allianz Lanka.
“At Allianz, sustainability has always been at the very core of our DNA, as we focus on long term outcomes focussed on how we can make the world a more resilient place.
This project is the first of many initiatives that we will be carrying out locally for the betterment of the lives of our fellow Sri Lankans.
We believe it is possible for all of us to together, slow down climate change, encourage global progress, and develop an equitable society over the long term,” said Allianz Insurance Lanka Limited CEO Gany Subramaniam. “Staying true to our purpose, we will continue to secure the future for our customers and society, sustainably.”
