New facelift for Building Materials Corporation

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, State Minister of Rural Housing and Construction Indika Anuruddha, Secretary to the Ministry of Housing Keerthi Ranjith Abeygunawardena, BMC Chairman Mahendra Wijesekera, General Manager  Ratnasiri Kalupahana,  Ministry of Housing  and Government officials at the event.  

The Building Materials Corporation’s (BMC) modernized sales centre at Sangaraja Mawatha, Colombo 10 was opened by the Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on March 5, 2021, State Minister of Rural Housing and Construction and Indika Anuruddha, also participated.

The Building Materials Corporation was established in 1971, the institution comes under the purview of the Ministry of Housing and Construction. The BMC had however not come under renovation for nearly 50 years.

Subject Minister of Housing and Urban Development and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa had therefore instructed State Minister Anuruddha, to renovate the five decade old sales center.

At BMC all building materials in the construction industry is available under one roof in Colombo for a reasonable and discounted prices, Children of staff members who were victorious at the World Habitat Day art competition also received certificates from the Prime Minister at the event.
