Evergreen Tea Factory triumphed with three awards at ‘Entrepreneurship Excellence - 2020’ award ceremony of Southern Province.
Southern Province Enterprise Excellence, Best Export Enterprise and the Best Company in the Industry/Manufacturing Sector, Large Category were the three awards they won at the 5th ‘Entrepreneurship Excellence’ ceremony of Southern Province held at Golden Pearl Hotel, Tangalle.
With a successful history over 35 years, Evergreen Group thrives in tea industry with 12 factories producing Orthodox and CTC tea. More than 30,000 tea small holders are supplying green leaves to Evergreen factories. In addition, the Group owns Lavish Tea Company which targets export tea market.
“Perseverance, dedication and the guidance of Directors of Evergreen Group Indika Nallaperuma, Senal De Silva and General Manager Lasantha Alwis contributed greatly to the success the company,” he said.
Meanwhile Brombil Tea Factory, Kalutara owned by Evergreen Group has made history by recording the highest quantity of production and sale of tea for a factory in Sri Lanka in 2020.
It has sold 4,067,279Kgs of tea. Brombil, a factory with ISO and RA quality certifications, produces CTC and Orthodox teas with around 4500 small holders supplying green leaves.
Evergreen Group have won a number of provincial, national and international accolades to its pride including 16 awards at the Black Tea Quality Assessment Competition organized by the Chinese Tea Marketing Association in 2019 in China.
In the same year Brombil CTC and Orthodox Tea Factories secured the third place in large scale environment friendly category at the President’s Environmental Awards Ceremony. Evergreen Tea Factory became third at National Productivity Awards 2018. At the same awards ceremony five tea factories of Evergreen Group won merit and special merit awards.
Having entered to tea industry in 1983, Aruna de Silva started his first own tea factory, Evergreen, at Horangalle, Galle in 1985. Today the group has ten tea factories and two more are to be opened in this year. Proving the high quality of their products the evergreen group has received a number of quality certificates including ETP, RA and ISO. Evergreen group has created thousands of direct and indirect employment while contributing to several welfare and religious programs.
