35million profit by repairing old buses


Lakdiva Engineering Company which is engaged in repairing and modernizing old buses has earned considerable profits during the first half of this year.

In the January-August period,  it made a profit of Rs 35 million by repairing 107 buses. This was revealed in a progress report of the company, which was released at the opening of Lakdiva Engineering Company's emission testing center, the Ministry of Transport said.

Lakdiva Engineering Company is a state-owned company which comes under the Ministry of Transport. Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Arjuna Ranatunga opened the Emission Testing Center.

Transport Minister Arjuna Ranatunga said that, In the past the company had repaired only about seven buses monthly. Now 15 buses are being repaired for a month. And it is expected to increase this up to 20per month.
