The State Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Dilip Vedaarachchi, said that the first ever smart fisheries harbor would be set up at Kalametiya in Tangalle DS area.
He said that a sum of Rs.1,100 million would be spent for the construction work of the fisheries harbour. He said that it would consist of a 80 meter break water, an auction hall in extent of 50 meters, two halls meant for mending fishing nets and a restaurant and a row of shops.
The State Minster said that a Korean delegation had paid a visit to the Kalametiya Fisheries Harbour to explore possibilities of development of the fisheries harbour.The leader of the Korean delegation Hyunick Yoon said that a solar power project and a mammoth water supply project would be launched for the benefit of the fisher folk and residents.
