Addressing a long-felt need in Sri Lanka’s media and communications industry, CICRA’s campus in Colombohas announced the inauguration of an Executive Master’s degree programme in Mass Communication in collaboration with the Asia e-University (AEU) of Malaysia. The programme is geared to providing professionals working in the mass communications field the opportunity to gain a valuable academic qualification under theguidance of an eminent faculty, while doing their day jobs.
The MSc programme includes eight modules covering New Media, Public Relations, Development Communication, Investigative Journalism, Media Ethics, Media Law, Mass Communication and Research Methods.
The Faculty comprises Prof. Theodore Fernando and Dr. Madubhashini Galagedarage - Senior Lecturers at the Open University, Nimal Gunewardena - Founder of NGage Strategic Alliance, Dilrukshi Handunetti - Executive Director at the Centre for Investigative Reporting, Shihar Aneez - Reuters Bureau Chief, Dr. Achala Abeykoon of the University of Visual and Performing Arts and Vasana Wickremasenaand, Kamal Liyanage academics of the CICRA Campus.“The program covers a full 360-degree view of modern domain knowledge in the media and communications sphere, and has been designed keeping working professionals in mind, where they can complete the degree within a 12 to 15-month period” explained CICRA Campus’ Group Director& CEO Boshan Dayaratne.
The degree is offered by Asia e-University of Malaysia, which is a university established under the Asia Communication Dialogue, and recognized by the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka. The graduation will take place at the AEU Convocation in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
