Cinnamon Bentota Beach reopens to travellers

The premier luxury destination resort Cinnamon Bentota Beach Bentota was reopened from November 1, 2021 after timely enhancements, to offer guests an unforgettable multi sensorial experience.

Acknowledged as one of the most iconic properties in Sri Lanka for its location and prized architecture and art by Sri Lanka’s best-known architects and artists, the striking rich batik ceiling envisioned and brought to life by Ena de Silva, the resort embodies the tropical beauty, art and culture of the island. The resort boasts a heritage dating back to the ‘60s, designed by Asia’s most influential architect of the time - Geoffrey Bawa.

General Manager of Cinnamon Bentota Beach Dilan Bandara said, “It is an absolute pleasure to welcome our guests to Cinnamon Bentota Beach with the easing of travel restrictions and international tourism opening up. Our signature hospitality experience will be refreshing and exciting after the long hiatus in travel for so many people around the world who are itching to travel.”

“All resort operations are being conducted under strict compliance with health standards laid down by the government, as well as meeting our own stringent standards for hygiene and safety as part of the brand’s own standard for cleanliness known as Cinnamon Care.”

From delivering a personalized check-in and check-out service to offering a truly authentic and tailor-made stay, Cinnamon Bentota Beach offers a variety of exclusive guest services, along with concierge service, in-room or location dining, pillow menu, babysitting service, laundry services, spa, conference hall, in-house artisan village and a gymnasium.

The property is also ideal for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions) events and landmark personal occasions, such as weddings held at the ballroom terrace adjoining the main ballroom or even on the beach.

The resort offers 16 suites with unique sets of artworks that were commissioned from Sri Lankan artists as part of Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts’ pledge to support the local arts and crafts. Eight artists were commissioned to depict a theme and record what they felt the name of the suite meant to them - resulting in each suite telling a story of the local people and local languages. Cinnamon Bentota Beach was originally designed by Geoffrey Bawa and his Engineer Dr. K. Poologasundaram and later refurbished by Architect Channa Daswatta. Experiences at this property abound with fun activities for children including water sports, curated excursions and specialised destination dining, authentic Sri Lankan cuisine.
