Sampath Sofa Manufacturing Company Dibbadda Panandura has presented the Gold award in the Wood and Wood-based Products category at the Industrial Development Board of Ceylon (IDB) organized annual awards ceremony for the SME sector recently.
The best SMIs were selected from among the industrialists participating in the competitions at district, provincial and national level, in several categories and Sri Lanka’s leading Sofa manufacturer and supplier Sampath Sofa Manufacturing was presented with a Gold award in the Wood and Wood-based Products category.
Chairman Managing Director, Sampath Sofa, Sampath Fonseka said that beginning from stitching cushion covers and supplying it to Arpico Super a decade ago, he developed his business to become the number and Sofa manufacture in Sri Lanka accounting to nearly 80% of Sofas sold in all leading furniture Department stores in Sri Lanka.
Today he has over 150 employees and has also set up his wood production facility to manufacture other furniture as well He said that Sampath Sofa is also now moving into the apartment market supplier as they can make sofas to particular sizes and designs provided by architects. “I also export my products to several countries including Australia and hope to increase my export business after COVID-19”.
