Sri Lanka still has the cheapest fuel prices in South Asia

Despite the recent fuel hike in line with the escalating global oil prices Sri Lanka still maintains one of the lowest prices in petrol 95 and diesel in comparison with some of the other South Asian countries, Central Bank statistics revealed.

With added taxation and subsidies, Sri Lanka remains at a lower price level for petrol 95 and diesel, despite the recent surge in fuel prices declared by the government.

Accordingly, one litre of petrol 95 is Rs. 157, one litre of diesel, Rs. 111. The prices are notably higher in India, marking Rs. 262 for a litre of petrol 95 and Rs. 246 for a litre of diesel.
