On a request by the Hambantota District Chamber of Commerce (HDCC) the USAID-Social Cohesion and Reconciliation Activity (SCORE) project donated essential health equipment to the Hambantota General Hospital’s COVID 19 treatment center. Dr. V G S C Ubesekara, the Director of Hambantota COVID 19 treatment hospital, the Director General of the HDCC, Tilar Nadugala, Operations Manager of the HDCC, Ajith Liyanage and few other key health officers participated in the Event.
M Supun Nanayakkara, Community Participation Specialist of the USAID-funded Social Cohesion and Reconciliation Activity (SCORE) project, assisted by Global Communities supported the financial donation along with S. Rasika Shantha De Silva, Executive Director Sahana Social Development Alliance. The USAID-Social Cohesion and Reconciliation Activity (SCORE) project has been initiated to support multiple relief efforts with the objective of strengthening the safety of those in frontline health services and provision of immediate relief to the COVID 19 positive patients.
KN95 masks, disposable surgical mask, face shield (disposable), coveralls (disposable), coveralls (reusable), surgical glove, hand sanitizing liquid (5L), boots (rubber), cover shoes disposable, thermometer, bed sheets (single bed white) and mosquito nets were among the donated items.
“I am thankful for the timely support of SCORE, these items are very much essential to make sure the safety of the frontline staff of the COVID 19 treatment center of the Hospital,” said Dr. V G S C Ubesekara, Director of Hambantota COVID 19 treatment hospital.
