CNCI’s Seminar on Essential Labour Laws today

The Ceylon National Chamber of Industries - CNCI, the Voice of Industry in the country has scheduled a full day Seminar on Essential Labour Laws to the public and private sector employees to be conducted on March 7, from 9.00 am to 4.30 pm at Hotel Taj Samudra, Colombo 3.

Secretary General of the Chamber, Abeyratne Muthugala said that the training seminar has been organized on the requests the Chamber has received from some of their member companies. He further said that the CNCI had also identified the needs of many of the private sector organizations that were in need of developing in many areas of Human Resource Management, such as Disciplinary procedure, Leave procedure etc and certain salient points of the Shop and Office Act and other ordinances when dealing with their day to day commitments.

Secretary General cited that it would be an interesting seminar and believes that not only of the private sector organizations, but also many other Public Sector Organizations and relevant & interested individuals would find it useful to fulfill their need of knowing the important areas of the Labour Laws which we all have to deal with. The scheduled seminar will mainly cover the areas of Shop and Office Employment Act, Wages Board Ordinance, Leave Entitlement, Maternity Benefits Ordinance, Payment of Gratuity Act, Termination of Employment and Basic Features of Factory Ordinance.

This important seminar will be conducted by Milanga Weerakkody, Commissioner of Labour (Law Enforcement) and Chief Legal Officer, Depatment of labour and K G Kumarasinghe, Legal Officer, Department of Labour who have years of experience in the field and are possessing of very good training skills.
