The Grand Nuwara Eliya has been nominated by the CNN travel as one of Asia’s ultimate heritage hotels. It is now stands on par with Raffles Singapore, The Peninsula Hong Kong and Mandarin Oriental Bangkok.
The hotel owned and operated by Tangerine Group of Hotels has won several new awards this year. These includes Tea Lounge of the Year – Asia (Luxe Magazine), Best Brands Awards – CMO Asia, SATA (South Asia Travel Award) Silver for the Leading Heritage Hotel and Leading Luxury Hotel in South Asia, Culinary Art Food Expo – (Runners up), Best Integrated Report – Gold (CIMA) CNCI Awards – Ceylon National Chamber of Industries, April Blooms – Annual flower and garden competition Top Ten and Star Awards – Three Star – Service Category Large- (Ministry of Industries – Central Province).
The hotel was also short listed for several other awards. The hotel also opened several new restaurants and other activity corners during the last few months adding more value to the property.
The Grand Outdoors program consists of trekking, cycling, bird-watching, waterfall tours, fishing and air rifle shooting which are just a few highlights of this bio-diversity hot spot.

With the new trend of Millennials being more on the move and contributing significantly towards the tourism, the Hotel formed its own millennial club comprising of staff within the age group to study their behavioral, purchasing and preference patterns which is a reflection of millennial tourist.
The hotel also engages in severs CSR activates keeping in mind the Sustainable Development Goals put forward by the United Nations. One such initiative is to invite 50 less fortunate children who are either orphans, single parented or desolate for a Christmas Party and provide them a memorable experience with food, games and gifts. Hotel also maintains the Pediatric Ward of the Nuwara Eliya General Hospital.
