US based BNI to open office in Colombo

BNI, a US based company which is in to business match making will open their Sri Lankan Head Office in Colombo soon.

Due to the steady growth in Sri Lanka, BNI will also branch out to the regions and plan to open regional centers in Galle Jaffna and Kandy.

“Currently within BNI there were almost Rs. 750 to 900 million worth of Business has happened in Sri Lanka and this growth has prompted us to relook at Sri Lanka with more optimism,” said BNI President Asia Pacific Mahesh Mac Srinivasan who was in Colombo last week.

“BNI has made a steady progress in Sri Lanka and has over 150 members mainly from SME and our target is to increase this to 300 by end 2018. “Our goal is 1,010 members for 2020 from Sri Lanka.”

Explaining the model of business he said that any business institution could register with them paying an annual fee and then these members would be connected to their global network spread in 73 countries.

“We also hold regular meetings with more than 35 members in one in Colombo allowing them to interact with each other. Unique feature of these meeting is that we will only bring one sector (eg. banker, apparel manufacturer) to a meeting to avoid competition for their business.”

“Mac’s visit to Sri ‘Lanka is also has a significance impotency as we are going to conduct the first BNI Director Consultants Roundtable Session in Sri Lanka,” said Executive Director Visakapatnam, K. V. T. Ramesh.

“We are in the process of dividing Sri Lanka in to business regions to handle the local operation more easily and also hope to appoint regional directors.”

“So far we have conducted two cross country meetings with BNI Vishakapatnam and BN Hyderabad and almost 75 BNI members were in Sri Lanka for the cross country.” The last meeting was, with BNI Coimbatore where 25 members came to Sri Lanka and visited and networked with BNI Local chapters.

Some of the very active BNI member countries are Japan, London, Qatar, UAE, Malaysia, India, Vietnam, Cambodia, Scotland, USA and BNI Australia. “Also when you are a BNI member, if you travel to any of the 75 countries, you do not need special permission to attend any of the BNI meetings there, but just to walk in and introduce yourself. It is that simple.”

The local head for BNI operations Anjana Gunatillake said, “BNI Sri Lanka is also planning to spread the BNI concepts to the Business Community on how they can easily do business with Globe while connecting with BNI and its fraternity.”

Also we are in the process of organizing a proper BNI education calendar so that every Business owner will get the most updated business knowledge through our BNI Education sessions.

“In future there will be lot of opportunities to Sri Lanka, especially when it comes to Business and also for tourism sector. There is a steady flow of BNI members coming to Sri Lanka to explore the country and also to do business through collaboration.”
