Lands aplenty for foreign ventures - PM

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe’s recent exclusive interview with Indian based WION magazine revealed that further investment opportunities are available for foreign ventures.

Wickremesinghe said he seeks to work together with the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation on a block of land close to Galle.

He further said there have been discussions with Surbana Jarong regarding land in the North-western Province where they hope to build an industrial estate. He said Sri Lanka has plans to come to agreements with India and Japan in developing the Trincomalee port.

He said both Sri Lanka and India see the Bay of Bengal as a lucrative area for development and he believes that in ten years the economical area will provide a good return.

He said Sri Lanka and the economies of five other Indian states are worth US$ 500 billion the Prime Minister’s vision is that with collective effort all economies could grow up to trillion dollars. (VW)
