Joint venture wins Rs 2.5 bn central expressway consultancy

A consortium of Sri Lankan firms has been awarded the Rs 2.5 billion consultancy contract to supervise the first stage of the Central Expressway construction, a 37 kilometre stretch linking the town of Kadawatha to Mirigama. The contract for the joint venture of Resources Development Consultants, Green Tech Consultant and Consulting Engineers and Architects Associated was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers this week. The Central Expressway, linking Kadawatha to Dambulla via Kurunegala, is part of a planned network of highways.

A link to Kandy will branch off at Pothuhera and terminate at Galagedara about 10km away from Kandy city.

The joint venture was selected from four shortlisted bidders of five who responded to a Road Development Authority Expression of Interest request from local consultancy firms.
