Miss Globe World final in Colombo; Boost for tourism

Sri Lanka will host the 46th edition Miss Globe World final on February 25, at Nelum Pokuna Theatre making it the biggest MICE events ever be staged in Sri Lanka.

This is also the biggest MICE event to be hosted after Easter Sunday Attacks and change of government.

The event will attract participants from 80 countries and over 20, 000 foreign visitors are expected to attend the event said National Organizer, Tronic Entertainment (Pvt) Ltd, Tatyana Rajapaksa. She said the event would be watched live by over 600, 000 viewers giving tremendous destination marketing value for Sri Lanka.

Rajapaksa also said mini pageants would also be hosted in hotels in Kandalama, Kandy and Hambantota which will also give additional value for these destinations outside Colombo.

She said in several local cultural events too would be included to the Pageant in a bid to project local value to the world. “We believe that this international pageant will create an epiphany of opportunities and bring an array of benefits to our country.”

An official from Tronic Entertainments said that the bid to host this event was done last year and the Easter Sunday attacks did not have a major negative impact to bring it to Sri Lanka.

“We convinced the organizers that Sri Lanka was safe destination.”

He said that Sri Lanka won the bid to host the event over China.

Miss Globe in an annual beauty pageant which was first hosted in Los Angeles USA in 1974. Miss Globe is an annual conventional Beauty Pageant Organization which was found in 1974 in Los Angeles USA. Every year sixty participants form different nations and cultures take part in order to represent their country.

The main objective of this event is to promote women’s role in today’s world. Tronic Entertainments (Pvt) Ltd has been operating since 2014 and has established itself as one of the largest live communication agencies in Sri Lanka. (SS)
