P.D.S.L. De Alwis assumed duty as the General Manager of Sanasa Insurance Co. Ltd (General Insurance division) and he has become the CEO, GM, Specified Officer, and the Principal Officer since July 12019.
Alwis has a brilliant track record in the field of insurance with academic qualifications as well as professional experience. Having graduated with a BSc. Special (Hons) in Marketing Management from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura in 1998, he passed ACII from the Chartered Insurance Institute, UK, in 2010 to become a Chartered Insurer in 2012.
Alwis started his career as an executive officer of the National Insurance Corporation in 2000 and moved to Janashakthi Insurance PLC in mid 2001, as the former corporation was privatized.
Later, his next posting was at H.N.B. Assurance PLC as a Senior Executive Officer in January 2002 and later promoted to the post of Assistant Manager there.
Having worked for HNB for quite a time, Alwis then moved to Asian Alliance Insurance PLC as Manager- Non Life Insurance in 2007. He was laterpromoted to the position of Senior Manager of the same section in 2011.
Still moving up the ladder, he joined MBSL Insurance Ltd in September 2014 as Assistant General Manager – General Insurance. Since 2016 up to March 2019 he had been working as Acting CEO of MBSL Insurance. Currently, Alwis is working as a part time lecturer at the Sri Lanka Insurance institute whild representing Sanasa General Insurance Company at Insurance Association of Sri Lanka, in addition to steering the company.
