The Chamber Academy, the knowledge arm of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce together with GRI South Asia will be hosting a webinar on the topic of Understanding Sustainability Reporting for the Plantation Sector in Sri Lanka.
The webinar will be on August 3, 2021 from 10.00 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. via MS Teams.
The plantation industry must have appropriate sustainability practices that could help mitigate climate change and other unpredicted changes in the external environment. It is often forgotten that preservation of water, soil and other resources are vital for the sustenance of the future therefore organizations must take necessary action and precaution to face the challenging future.
Development of human capital, training, technology and elevating the standards of living is a trial for the plantation sector in boosting its productivity and performances.
Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) is the international, non-profit organization that provides the world’s most widely used sustainability reporting standards. In the South Asia region, companies are increasingly using the GRI Standards to disclose their impacts.
The GRI Standards are provided as a free public good, offering a global common language for sustainability reporting. This means that companies in Sri Lanka can disclose their impacts in a reliable and comparable way, which adheres with international best practice.
In this high value, professional workshop, participants will discover why it makes business sense to adopt sustainable business practices, how to monitor, manage, and communicate on performance. It is an ideal opportunity for companies from the plantation sector to get insights from experts to initiate their sustainability reporting journey ahead.
The topics in this session will cover areas such as why sustainability is important for the plantation sector in Sri Lanka, understanding sustainability reporting and GRI Standards, overview of GRI Standards and how companies from the plantation sector are using the standards and the business perspective on sustainability reporting.
