Suwasarana Hospitals Pvt Ltd Ragama would further invest around Rs. 40 million to introduce a cardio and eye care clinic to the hospital this year.
The hospital was opened four years ago with an initial investment of Rs. 700 million said Chairman, Managing Director, Suwasarana Hospitals Pvt Limited, Dr. Dantanarayanage Saranathillike.
He said that he was working in the government and a private hospital for 34 years and started his own general medical practice at Ragama in1989. “Due to increasing number of patients and needing to add more areas of health care and provide residential treatment, I invested on building Suwasarana Hospitals at Tewatta road Ragama in 2015.”
“Today we specialize in diabetic wound treatment, back and bone pain management and also general medical care. Our treatment was very successful and have saved the limbs of several diabetic patients with advanced diabetic wound treatment.’’
“We also have our own laboratory, operating theaters, pharmacy and laboratory with ultrasound scanning and a channeling service. We have AC rooms and two wards that could accommodate around 25 in-ward patients.”
With a staff of 25, the hospital also provides a 24 hour accident and emergency service.
“We now want to invest around Rs. 35 million to open a dental care section and open up medical consultant facilities for heart patients and expand our general medical care areas with more facilities. We will also soon introduce an online channeling service and have also tied up with E Doc services.”
He said that Suwasarana Hospital was one of the few hospitals in Sri Lanka that were operating during the initial COVID-10 lockdown providing much needed health care.
Director, Dr. Yasara Dantanarayana a Bangladeshi qualified doctor said that the hospital is also engaged in several CSR initiatives. “These range from providing education assistance for schoolchildren and graduates and also helping to build three houses for needy families in the area.”
