Nihal Samarasinghe to promote country in Europe

Sri Lankan born Nihal Samarasinghe who is also the Consul for Sri Lanka in Rheinland (Frankfurt) was appointed by Sri Lanka Tourism to promote tourism in Europe.

Samarasinghe is the Chairman and the Managing Director of four hospitality related companies based in Frankfurt including Ramada. He is also expanding rapidly. Samarasinghe said he is looking at conducting regular events in Germany and Europe to promote Sri Lanka’s image among the German travellers. “He said that it was not a difficult task since many Germans know about Sri Lanka.” Prior to embarking on his own ventures in hotel management and ownership and consulting services, he held the position of Vice President of Finance and Internal Audit for Europe, Middle East and Africa for Ramada International, and was instrumental in bringing the Ramada brand back to Sri Lanka.

He said that Germans are also looking at investment opportunities overseas and he will also promote Sri Lanka as a investment destination in Germany and Europe. (SS)
