Give2Asia partners HelpAge, provides essentials to elders in pandemic areas

Give2Asia, an international non-profit based in San Francisco Bay Area and working in 23 countries across the Asia Pacific partnered with HelpAge SriLanka (HASL), a leading social service organization to provide dry rations worth over 2.2 million to Covid-19 affected elderly people living in the districts of Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Galle and Matara.

HelpAge, Executive Director Samantha Liyanawaduge stated that over hundred thousand less-privileged elderly people island-wide have been affected by the Covid-19 period and that the dry ration distribution will immensely help the beneficiaries to overcome some of the challenges they faced. Accordingly, HelpAge distributed the recipient with a basket of essential food items.

Give2 Asia, Sri Lankan Country Advisor Sharadha de Saram also participated in the Homagama distribution programme and meet some of the beneficiaries and expressed her gratitude to Give2Asia for this philanthropic gesture.

HASL, Programme Manager Chaminda de Silva thanked the Divisional Secretaries in respective districts for the support extended towards the programme.

He said HelpAge will provide needy elders with Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) along with dry rations in other areas in the next phase of the programme.
