ASPI within touching distance of 10,000 – Acuity Stockbrokers

The Bourse ended the week on a positive note this week with ASPI increasing by 291.41 points (or 3.03%) to close at 9,915.22 points, while the S&P SL20 Index also increased by 59.11 points (or 1.67%) to close at 3,605.72 points.

Turnover & Market Capitalization

Expolanka was the highest contributor to the week’s turnover value, contributing LKR 1.79Bn or 15.56% of total turnover value. L O L C Holdings followed suit, accounting for 8.55% of turnover (value of LKR 0.98Bn) while Comm Lease & Fin contributed LKR 0.90Bn to account for 7.86% of the week’s turnover. Total turnover value amounted to LKR 11.48 Bn (cf. last week’s value of LKR 14.16 Bn), while the daily average turnover value amounted to LKR 3.83Bn (35.15% W-o-W) compared to last week’s average of LKR 2.83Bn. Market capitalization meanwhile, increased by 3.03% W-o-W (or LKR 129.86 Bn) to LKR 4,418.43 Bn cf. LKR 4,288.57 Bn last week.

Liquidity (Value & Volume)

Capital Goods Industry Group was the highest contributor to the week’s total turnover value, accounting for 25.39% (or LKR 2.91Bn) of market turnover. Industry Group’s turnover was driven primarily by Royal Ceramic, ACL and JKH which accounted for 52.18% of the sector’s total turnover. Diversified Financials Industry Group meanwhile accounted for 20.87% of the total turnover value while Transportation Industry Group contributed 15.60% to the weekly turnover.

The Food Beverage & Tobacco Industry Group dominated the market in terms of share volume, accounting for 26.66% (or 123.67 Mn shares) of total volume, with a value contribution of LKR 1.54Bn. The Materials Industry Group followed suit, adding 25.23% to total volume (117.01 Mn shares) while the Diversified Financials Industry Group contributed 18.58% (86.19 Mn shares) to the weekly share volume.

Total foreign purchases increased by 12.9% W-o-W to LKR 0.18Bn from last week’s value of LKR 0.16Bn, while total foreign sales amounted to LKR 0.44Bn relative to LKR 0.28Bn recorded last week (56.7% W-o-W).
