Colombo bourse in green again

Colombo bourse rested in the green for the second consecutive day whilst attained fresh highs yesterday, mainly pushed up by several fundamentally stable and trading stocks.

Thus, the All Share Price Indexincreasedby45.8 points (+0.6%) to close at 8,068.3yesterday whilst the S&P SL20 Index also increased by13.2 points (+0.4%)to close the day at 3,095.1.LOLC Holdings, Expolanka Holdings, Hayleys, Vallibel One and Commercial Leasing remained as the top positive contributors to the ASPI during the day.

Further, broader market’s total turnover stood at LKR 4,885.3 mn against the 12-month average daily turnover of LKR 3,175.9mn, whilst the volume traded for the day was 310,162.9 k against the 12-month average daily volume of 180,075.5 k. Transportation, Capital Goods, Diversified Financials and Materials was the main sectors that contributed to the daily turnover.

The top traded counters for yesterday were Expolanka Holdings LKR 1,238.2 mn (+3.2%), LOLC Holdings LKR 426.2 mn (+3.2%), Dipped ProductsLKR358.8mn (+3.9%), Commercial Bank LKR 332.5 mn (-1.1%) and Hayleys LKR 318.7 mn (+4.0%).Foreigners were net sellers yesterday recording an outflow of LKR 442.7 mn during the day.

Foreign purchases stood at LKR48.6mn which was approximately witnessed in CIC Holdings, Hayleys, Melstacorp and Expolanka Holdings whilst total foreign sales amounted to LKR 491.3mn, assumed to be seen in Commercial Bank, Teejay Lanka, People’s Leasing & Finance and Dialog Axiata.

Further, off-board transactions were witnessed in Commercial Bank, Expolanka Holdings, Alumex and LOLC Holdings yesterday.

Additionally, Hotel Sigiriya, C.W. Mackie, Expolanka Holdings, Malwatte Valley Plantations, Piramal Glass and HNB Finance touched their 52-week high prices whilst Prime Land Residences and SMB Leasing (Non-Voting) witnessed the 52-week low price point yesterday.

Further, SMB Leasing (Voting & Non-Voting), Industrial Asphalts and Expolanka Holdings, remained as the most actively traded stocks yesterday.

Furthermore, interim results of Chemanex were released yesterday where the profits for 1QFY22 increased by +138% YoY to LKR20.8 mn.
