SriLankan to add Moscow as new destination

SriLankan Airlines will add Moscow to their radar from next month to bring in more tourists to Sri Lanka, Chairman, SriLankan Airlines Ashok Pathirage said. “We will start with four flights per week.”

He said in addition they will also add more frequency to current destinations to help bring in more tourists as well as Sri Lankan expatriates based overseas.

Asked if the airfares would be very high than the pre COVID-19 era he said that it would be around 15% more mainly due to health regulation expenses. “When operating expatriation flights we have to fly only one way passenger traffic and were forced to charge a higher rate. However in this instance we expect higher load factor of both inbound and outbound traffic.”

The Chairman said that they welcomed the move to open the airport for which they were waiting for a long time.

Meanwhile, Country Manger for Emirates, Chandana De Silva said that they are operating four flights per week and would look at increasing frequency depending on demand which is increasing. (SS)
