Pathfinder ties up with Communist Party of China

China Reform Forum (CRF), an academic research institution affiliated to the Party School of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the China – Sri Lanka Cooperation Studies Centre of the Pathfinder Foundation (PF) to collaborate on academic and research activities.

Founded in 1994, the Forum has conducted a series of studies for more than 20 years focusing on China’s reform and opening – up and the path of peaceful development. It has established dialogue mechanisms with a number of research institutions in more than 20 countries including America, France, Britain, Germany, Russia, India, Republic of Korea and Singapore. The CRF provides policy suggestions to relevant government departments of China from the perspective of national strategy.

In pursuit of its objective to build a network of think tanks across the globe, over the last several years, a concerted effort has been made by PF to develop partnerships with track 1.5 and track 2 institutions in countries having interests in Sri Lanka’s economic, strategic and security spheres. Apart from India and China, countries such as Bangladesh, France, Iran, Israel, Japan, Nepal, Norway, Singapore, the Russian Federation, the UK and the USA have joined these partnership with PF. These collaborations are undertaken through the PF’s affiliates, Centre for Indo – Lanka Initiatives, China – Sri Lanka Cooperation Studies Centre; Centre for Law of the Sea and Hafez Centre.

In China, this partnership includes, establishing formal relationships with Chinese People’s Association of Peace and Disarmament (CPAPD), Shanghai Institutes of International Studies (SIIS), China Centre for Contemporary World Studies (CCCWS), China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR), Sichuan University (SU), etc., China Reform Forum will be the 16th partner of the Foundation’s China – Sri Lanka Cooperation Studies Centre. The PF and CRF look forward to working together to strengthen the relationship and mutual understanding between the peoples of China and Sri Lanka.
