The Mianyang Association of Commerce of Sichuan Province of China, has invited a delegation from Sri Lanka’s Confederation of Micro, Small and Medium Industries (COSMI), to hold one to one meetings with Chinese investors in Mianyan City in China in February.

This is subsequent to a high powered Chinese team from Mianyang Association of Commerce visiting Sri Lanka on an invitation from COSMI to ink an MOU and later their members held one to one meetings with Sri Lankan firms early this month.

“Mianyan is the only science and technological city approved by the Chinese Government and they are keen on technology transfers,” said COSMI Founder President Nawaz Rajabdeen.

He said the Chinese counterparts are also keen on opening some of their manufacturing plants in Sri Lanka with the intention of exporting to the region. Sri Lanka having FTA’s with both India and Pakistan, is a great attraction to look at Sri Lanka.”

He said the Chinese business delegation that was on Sri Lanka had also invited 10 Sri Lankan companies who had successful one to one meetings to be included in this delegation. “We hope to have a strong 20 member team from COSMI for this business meeting.”

Founding member COSMI, Hui Dias Bandaranayake, said that Mianyan is the only science and technological city approved by the Chinese Government, while it is also the most dynamic city on the China OBOR belt. “COSMI works for the revival of the industrial sector in Sri Lanka that now faces various setbacks, including the lack of new tech and international links. This MOU would bring multiple benefits to Sri Lanka by way of tie ups and technology transfers.”
