Hemas Hospitals renew NITF partnership

Sri Lanka’s most trusted Internationally accredited healthcare provider, Hemas Hospitals, recently renewed its revolutionary partnership with the National Insurance Trust Fund (NITF) with a major upgrade to its extensive portfolio of healthcare benefits and services offered to state sector employees. Under the new agreement, state sector employees who are members of the NITF’s ‘Agrahara’ insurance scheme will enjoy the wide spectrum of benefits Hemas Hospitals has packaged under its ‘Upahara’ programme for state sector employees.

The new benefit scheme offers free OPD doctor consultations for the state sector employees and their families, as well as a 50% discount on hospital charges for specialist consultations, 20% discount on laboratory, radiological and cardiological investigations, 20% discount on physiotherapy and a 15% discount on hospital charges for inpatient care.

The MoU was signed by NITF’s Chief Executive Officer, Sanath C. De Silva and Managing Director, Hemas Hospitals, Dr. Lakith Peiris. With over 2.5 million state sector employees and their family members currently being registered under the programme, the NITF represents one of the single largest groups of health insurance beneficiaries in Sri Lanka.

Commenting on the significance of the partnership for the group, Managing Director of Hemas Hospitals Chain, Dr. Lakith Peiris said: “With the new best ever benefit package offered to government servants Hemas Hospitals has been able to support the NITF in its mission to uplift the living standards of the state sector employees and their families through the provision of access to international standard superior healthcare facilities and services and we will continue to strengthen our partnership moving forward.”

According to data from the Department of Census and Statistics, 1.1 million of the country’s workforce are government employees who contribute to the executive role of implementing a range of essential services in healthcare, education, security, economic, transport, shipping, and air.
