Vip Thai group visits Sri Lanka

A 70 member Thailand religious group would arrive in Colombo today, making it the largest group to visit Sri Lanka after the Easter blasts.

Most Ven. Phra Bhawana-khemakun Mahathero, Chief Prelate of the Maheyong Monastery, Ayuttaya, Kingdom of Thailand, accompanied by four other Buddhist monks along with a 70 to 80 member ‘Dayaka’ group would arrive from Thailand.

The group’s visit would be under the auspices of the Most Ven. Rassagala Seewali Thero and the ground handling agents Bernard Tours (Pvt) Ltd., assisted by the SLTPB.

“Moving past the tragic events on Easter Sunday, the arrival of this special group seems to be a blessing in disguise as well as a glimmer of hope to our island nation, struggling to rebuild its tourism industry,” said Managing Director, Bernard Tours (Pvt) Ltd., Anjalo Mendis.

They will be on a six day tour in Sri Lanka and would be taking part in a donation of Buddha Statues in a ceremony organized by Most Ven. Rassagala Seewali Thero at the Thai Viharaya at Mabima in Kelaniya during their stay. (AK)
