Equities demonstrate positive investor sentiment

Colombo equities demonstrated positive investor sentiment yesterday. The Benchmark Index, ASPI closed the day at 6,412.37 points, gaining 3 points. This was mainly due to price gains in counters such as JKH.N (LKR162.10,+0.31%), UBC.N (LKR15,+4.17%), CLC.N (LKR2.90,+3.57%), COMB.N (LKR138,+0.36%) & HNB.N (LKR228,+0.44%). The Blue Chip Index S&P SL20 increased by 3.60 points or +0.1% to close at 3,694.17.

Foreigners took the position of net buyers for the day, recording a net foreign inflow of LKR 42mn for the day.

SEYB.N recorded the highest turnover for the day of LKR 23.3mn, followed by SAMP.N (LKR21.7mn) and HNB.N (LKR 18.7mn).

The day saw turnover decrease by 65.7% to LKR 210mn compared to the last trading day.

Bank Finance and Insurance Sector managed to record the highest turnover of LKR124.4mn for the day, followed Manufacturing Sector and Diversified Holdings Sector with daily turnovers of LKR 32.2mn and LKR 17.7mn respectively.

Year to date ASPI Performance stood at +3.0%, while Year to date Blue Chip Index increased by 5.7%.

Out of the 216 counters traded yesterday, 62 companies declined while 63 companies closed higher.
